Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Barratt Factory, Coburg Road (above where Karamel is now)

Shot from the now disappeared Lawton Road, this photo shows an extension built to the Barratt Factory in 1922, designed by architects Joseph Emberton and P. J. Westwood

The Google Street View photo below shows the same building today from much the same angle. At ground floor evel is restaurant and music club, Karamel.

Strange........I used to enjoy the whiff of Barrat's !  Our Mum worked evening shifts there probably late 50's/early 60's.   She used to come home with treats particularly I remember "Lucky Dip Bags" containing a mix of odds n sods.  Sherbet Dips, Flying Saucers. amongst other delights.  And I LOVED their liquorice offerings !  Memories eh.....

Hugh I worked there as a driver for a short while, also not forgetting Caxton Chocolate was there as well. After leaving there I went back to drive for Maynard's Wine Gums again and stayed untill 1970

Hugh I also in my driving career I was a driver for David & Timmins the nut & bolt suppliers around the corner right next to London Repetition .
