Remarkably unchanged today. I think all of these buildings are still standing?
Yes I think what's changed is what's just hidden - the school that was to the immediate left and the fire station and library that stood next to the police station - beyond the pub, shown on the left above
I lived on Ribblesdale Road in the 50s and that view looks more to me like the section of Tottenham Lane opposite Harvey Rd.
There was a footpath beside the presumed school site which led to St Mary's Infants School, which I walked when I last visited in 1996.
On the ground floor of the adjacent building there was a cafe operated by the mother of a Michelle Richards, who was a pupil at St Marys.
The presumed school site was then the site of Capital Motors, a Vauxhall dealership and filling station.
Yes, Les, the first turning on the right is Montague Road which led down to the Abyssinian pub in Abyssinia/Hornsey Vale. The second, where the colourisation stops is Harvey Road. The turning on the left just before the former Hope and Anchor is Church Path, which in the 1950s still had houses standing along it.
When this photo was taken, none of the buildings was much more than ten years old. So the photographer was capturing a truly modern scene. Before all this was developed, on the right hand side stood huge old houses, all demolished in a period of only ten years.
Tx Hugh, I'd forgotten Montague, It's been a while. Les
