Previously known as Tottenham Hospital (1899 - 1907) and earlier, Evangelical Protestant Deaconesses Institution and Traning Hospital (Until 1898)

When did it stop being a hospital?  I am sure I was a patient there, either for fixing broken leg in 1948 or appendicectomy in 1951.

It began to be run down as a working hospital from the late 1970s, and effectively closed in 1983.  It re-opened as luxury flats ten years later, having stood empty and decaying for almost ten years.  It was the location for the building site scenes in Ken Loach's Riff-Raff.

I recall it very well as a hospital. My grandmother died there in about 1954. My brother had his tonsils out there in about 1953 and my elder brother his appendix around the same time. My father's aunt lived in the houses opposite close to the fire station. My wife's sister trained as a nurse there in the 50s and worked in casualty and elsewhere until about 1963.

Didn't Ken Loach use the old PoW hospital in some of the filming for "Riff Raff"?

What fate awaited those poor buggers I wonder.  Injured so early in The War only to be patched up and sent back out again.

Visited and treated at that grand old hospital on many occasions from late 50's till mid 72.

Not to mention of course some Spurs legends treated there !

I remember this hospital so well, used to attend weekly as a child.  My husband was in the fire brigade and the station was opposite next to the baths and Tottenham town hall
