I learned from Stephen that this stretch of Seven Sisters Road just to the north of Woodberry Down used to be known locally as Woodbury Town. In the middle distance on the right you can see the huge Woodberry Hotel.

Oh wow this looks amazing! Can we please have trams back!!?? It certainly used to look a lot nicer than now
In the 1960s the area between Candler Street and St Ann's Road used to be called "The Town". I remember my late sister's friend Susan Gange telling her: "I'm just going to the town. They would have been about 15 years' old and both went to South Grove school (It's still there). Just past the lamppost on the left where the awning is, there used to be a record shop in the middle to late 1960s. As I walked passed with Colin Harrigan and Yacob Abdool (my two best friends) on the way to Markfield, we'd stop and look at the top 20 pop charts. A game kids at that time used to play, was to try to memorise all the top 20 by the time you got to school. so... The Beatles N0.1; Dave Clark 5 N0.2 (good Tottenham band from Philip Lane) Gerry and the Pacemakers N03 etc etc.
