A lovely old picture shot just north of Manor House station. The road is still cobbled at the time of the shot and you can see what looks like evidence of recently removed tram tracks.

Albums: Historical Images of Manor House / Woodberry Down
Hello Andrew Wilson, I remember the Postil girls but not Len. I had 2 brothers, Len & George. I lived above the shops on the corner of Roseberry Gardens, same side as May's greengrocers stall. My Dad ran an electric cable for her to our flat, could you imagine that being allowed today !!!. Maureen
Route map (North Finchley to Holborn) and timetable for trolley bus route 621 here:

The last day of operation was 31 January 1961, being replaced by bus route 221
My friend was murdered there in July 1977. The Manor House junction was still cobbled in the early 1960s. I can't remember exactly when it was removed - certainly after the trolleybuses were withdrawn. But the section seen on your photo had gone by the 1950s.
Your photo is quite an early shot of the 621, which was introduced in March 1938.
The last day of operation for routes 521 and 621 given in the linked website is incorrect. Their last day was Tuesday 7 November 1961. I travelled from Croydon for my last rides on these routes on the previous Saturday. Route 641 along Green Lanes also finished on 7 November, which was the end of trolleybuses along High Road, Wood Green, and Green Lanes. Routes 221 and 141 replaced them on Wednesday 8 November 1961.
