This photo looks to have been taken after the new town hall was built, but before the electricity and gas showrooms were erected.
On the far right are three telephone boxes that arrived with the town hall, no doubt connected to the new telephone exchange to their right (and out of shot). At his point, also out of shot. the last two houses of Bellevue Terrace with their ground floor shop-extensions, still stood alongside the Dunns building.
Below is an extract from the 1938 Ordnance Survey map.

Oh my word, I so remember those three phone boxes. Along with the gas and electric showrooms where you could receive customer service when paying your bills. Happy days.
Thank you for another fascinating photograph. I should just like to make one small ciorrection. The telephone exchange shown on the map was not ‘new’, but the original Hornsey exchange opened on 7 November 1907. Its name was changed to MOUntview on 1 October 1924 to meet the requirements of the Director automatic exchange system which was to be progressively introduced across London from 1927 onwards. (There was also HOP Exchange which used the same three positions on the dial.) The manual exchange on The Broadway was closed on 24 February 1938 when the new MOUntview automatic exchange was opened at Crouch End Hill. (Information courtesy of BT Archives.)
