Damants, on site of Crouch End Square c1920

Damants, hosiers and hatters, stood on what is now the north side of the square in front of Hornsey Town Hall in the centre of Crouch End. To its right, where now stand the former electricity showroom, was the entrance to Broadway Hall, which was behind Damants. Between Damants and Broadway Hall was Lake Villa, the home of surgeon and Hornsey Medical Officer of Health Dr Frederick Orton between about 1870 and 1920.
