was it derelict before the fire ? or still in use as a school or other use ?

I think the building closed as a school in 1975 (but that needs checking). By the end it was juniors only.

Would those new roof tile areas be bomb damage repairs ?     And is that the roof of an air raid shelter just visible above wall in centre of pic ?    Looks like "Wardens Post C" painted in white on it.  Rather grim looking building though.

Bomb damage repairs was my guess. But it's only a guess. Thanks for pointing out the Air Warden's post. I hadn't nptice that.

Amazing stories interpreted through photos ! Well done. I also wonder what the purpose of this particular Architectural record photo was ?  proposed alterations? building survey ? bomb repairs ?
