Woodlands Park junior school 1951/52, Mr Podd on the right and Mr Rowe on the left. Does anybody recognise anyone? I am at the back in the middle - now in Sydney/Aust where I have been living since 1963.

Great memento to have David. Wish I had the same. I was at Woodlands but from 56-60 time. However my Brother Brian would have been there for his final year around 1952, he was born 1941. There may be a possibility that he is in 2nd row from front, far right sporting that rather distinctive parting in hair ! The mouth and grin bear a resemblance. He too emigrated to Oz in 62, spending most of his time around Adelaide suburbs. He died out there in 2021.
I wonder if the Aussie sunshine helped you grow even taller cos you were already head and shoulders above schoolmates.
A further thought Andrew : my Brother's mates around his age and all living in Harringay Road were : Dennis Shervill (?), Bobby and Johnny Hills, Bobby and Johnny Tate, Peter ???(his surname evades me at moment and ??? Rowland. And George Farbridge of Glenwood Road (he emigrated with my Brother) . Recognise any of those names ??
John, I was born 1944, so I think I was 1950-55, I only remember Brian Clifford who lived on StAnnes road and Peter Macintosh. I played football with Barney Levy and Johnny Morley in our teens, who I think were West green road. And I do remember your sister Joyce, must have been in the infants school. I lived six doors up from the Salisbury hotel and went to Stationers for three years and then eventually came to Oz in 1963 when I was 19yrs. Been here 60yrs but have very fond memories of the colly and most of the shops on green lanes, the fish and chippy round the corner and Charlie Brandon’s where I “ learnt to smoke “ I kept growing to about 6ft 3ins. Great to hear from you. AW
I attended Woodlands Park infants school in September 1958. Then the juniors from 1960 to 1964, then on to Markfield (now Gladesmore). The headteacher's name was Mr Oakwood (I think) and my teacher was Mrs Parrot and Mrs Rudge. I remember one of the teacher's telling us about the new traffic lights in Green Lanes, they made a beeping noise when the lights turn red and you can cross. I sat next to David Hill, who owned Hill cleaners in Green Lanes (just closed down). I was a very fast runner, and won the 100 yards every year on sports day over the park. A long time ago, but good memories.
Kevin, I was at woodlands park infants and miss guntrip was the head, and at the junior school, I remember Mr.Hobson,Mr.lunney,Mr Rowe, miss cox. Those traffic lights were outside the Salisbury hotel and the minister of the day, I think Mr.marbles was there, great days!!!
Hi Andrew, I remember Mr Lunny, he was a bit of a joker as I recall. We were making some paper mache something or other, and he came in and asked if they were haggis? My friends were Sammy Shad, John Herod, Robert Balmer, Keith Hepting and a few others I can't remember. I wonder what happened to them? I still live in the same house 65.5 years now (I'm 70) I'm still working (I work in a school) and run a part time carpentry business. Saturday 2nd December, I was up the scaffold fixing soffits at -3 Celsius! (I still got it). Only regret is that I haven't got any pictures of my class or friends. It wasn't the fashion then to take pictures of schoolchildren at school - shame!
