Chesser's Forge stood at the junction of Lordship Lane and Green Lanes/High Road for 156 years from 1770. This image shows the forge in its last year of operation, just after the last owner had made an attempt to move with the times by adding a petrol pump (I assume that's the odd looking contraption to the right of the picture).
