Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Carrick & Davies, Coal Merchant, Railway Approach, Harringay c 1905

This is an interesting photo since it shows that this premises was squeezed in to the back part of what is now La Vina.

Offices like this just took orders and payments. So it was probably little more than the shopfront and a counter.

The shop appeared in around 1900 and seems to have gone by the time of the last war. Carrick and Davies were a multiple with a number of similar outlets across the city.

Below is the Kelly's Directory from 1910 and a newspaper ad from 1905:

I've sent a copy of the original photo to Yeliz at La Vina who was delighted to receive it and said that she'll display it in the restaurant.
