Seems that back in 1911 you could have driven a car made in Harringay. The Caledonian Motor Carriage Company was established at 140 Falkland Road in 1906. The company's showroom was just around the corner at 659 Green Lanes, no doubt connected to the factory at its rear.
Apparently the company was not long-lived. By the 1930s, Hollands cycle shop / record shop was occupying 659 Green Lanes.
I wonder if and Caledonians remain - the perfect campaign vehicle for Falkland Road resident David Schmitz.
After this business closed, 659 became the home to Hammonds Opticians.

Red tape? Nothing new!
Might that have been later the Constitutional club building?
