I can see the scales for weighing coins, but does anyone know what the white boxes were? 1961 is much too early for computer terminals. Microfilm readers?
Yes, I am curious about the white boxes, too.
What hist me is the marked lac k of protection for the staff in the event of a raid. Suggests the likelihood was considered very low at that time. And yet by 61 we were arrived at work (Hornsey Journal) on a Thursday and drawing lots on where the next wages grab would be! 2 bob in from five of us and we wrote the area on a piece of paper. When the word came in from our contact winner took all or, if we did not get it the money bought the first round on Friday! Which it tended to do anyway as I recall!
Did these town hall service counters still look the same in betting days?
