Phew! I was a regular at the ice hocky and the stock racing in the 50s. I skated on the rink. And I saw Tom Arnold's circus many times - I even think Bill Smart came one year. And I saw Tom Mix, Roy Rodgers and Hopalong Cassidy. The Stadium was a fantastic resource for us all. And behind, where now there are hyouses was a steep bank covered in laurel bushes that provide rare adventure for youngsters. Another thank you!
Yes like you Richard, "The Arena" was very much a part of my teenage years. So much fun there. My cousin's wrestling club put on a display at the arena in about 1953. He told me it did not really go very well, as it's not a spectator sport. Bad mistake then putting it on in the first place I think. Non the less all part of the history of the arena. By the way, did anyone remember the one off wrestling display? I myself did not go! Sorry Len (my cousin),
