The Wightman Road Council Depot was opened in 1902. I have given some of the the history of the two council depot buildings and fire station branch on Wightman Road here.
On the extreme left of the photo is the side of Woollven Butchers, complete with its one storey appended cold store, only the outline of which remains today. Just before that is the entrance to the depot which was probably wide enough for a horse and cart. Today it and the land under the demolished cold store form the entrance of Cyprus Close.
