Gosh did I say Hornsey Station 10 years ago? I meant Harringay West of course.
I may be wrong but I believe the 'West' suffix was only applied to the station during the 1990s when the establishment on Green Lanes was named 'Harringay East'.
Since the railway staff in the photo are wearing the earliest BR orange hi-viz vests, the photo must date from the early 1970s.
Well I always knew it as Haringay West right through the 50s and 60s etc, and thats what the big dark blue sign said by Steven & Steeds. Wish I had a photo.
Here's an excerpt from the history I added to the Harringay Station Wikipedia article:
Although it had been agreed that the station would be named Harringay Park, the GNR public timetable from May 1885 shows that station was in fact named Harringay from the outset.
The station was renamed Harringay West on 18 June 1951, but reverted to Harringay on 27 May 1971.
