After a Football Match.
Quite a famous shot of the High Road, taken at the spot that is to see widespread development in the near future. The buildings in the background are scheduled to be demolished.

StephenBln and John S, yes the size of them impressed me as a youngster, and the twin rear wheels. I recall walking towards Charing Cross station in 1960 or so and passing one at a stop. The wheel hubs were painted brown, not the black of my local (diesel) buses in north Kent, eye-level at that age. Little things stick in the memory.
John S, yes the honorary trusted auntie.
Gordon T............."honorary trusteds" ! Love it. Seemed to be loads of them. I think it was seen to be out of respect for older people in general.....??
Yes, and 'aunties' also were often the same age as one's parents, had children of their own and lived nearby so they were a trusted refuge/default if the parent couldn't turn up at the expected time.
'Go to your auntie and I'll walk you home when I get there'.
You well know this, I'm sure!
For the benefit of subsequent generations - I've described the culture that prevailed when I was a lad in the UK in the 1950s/60s, in my recollection. 'Auntie' is still an honorific in many cultures.
Gordon T - Where I live in the Far East everyone is auntie or uncle.
