The old St Paul's departed this world after a fire in 1984. The new interestingly-shaped (even 'dazzling') version has moved up the road a bit to make some way for some flats on the corner. There apparently is a rather novel organ - must have a look at that some time.
Good to see that there is more greenery now than then (though not in leaf at the moment). The rather strange camber on the road now is not original seemingly - done possibly for drainage or to smooth the junction with Burgoyne Road?
BTW the angle isn't quite right but the original photographer didn't have to contend with modern Wightman traffic.

Comment by Alan on October 27, 2013 at 1:12: The dead-end turning on the left led to a footbridge leading to Harringay West Station and Quernmore road Library etc. My evening job as a lad was for a cobblers called R.Barford just by the signal box there. There was a Catlins shop by the pillar box

.The pub on the r/h corner was Flowers the Railway and shops on the l/h corner The Facade. Behind the camera on the left was a railway Parcels depot with 3 wheeler lorries.

Comment by Robert Glover on March 18, 2014 at 14:06: Does anyone remember the Doctors surgery futher down Wightman Rd. I think it was on the corner of Mattison Rd. It was large property complete with brass plate engraved with the Dr's name. As a child in the 50's I remember a Dr. 'Mac Loughlin, who with heavily nicotain stained fingures would pop the thermometer into my mouth directly from his waist coat pocket!! Oh well, I Iived.
