Not exactly unloved; more accepted for what it was! Cheap and some great old films I recall in the 50s.
A much loved institution of my childhood. Terrific Saturday mornings/afternoons entertainment with an A film, B film, serial in between and not forgetting the wonderful Pathe Newsreels with the crowing cockerel. All for a tanner I believe, if Mum could afford it, otherwise try and bunk in through the side door. And the 'glamorous' ice cream usherettes. Great cowboy and comedy films, all heroes. The continuous screenings meant you could sit through from one show to another without charge. Ahh, the dear old Collie/Colly or Fleapit. Long before the days of pop corn and coke by the BUCKET LOAD. May be gone but never forgotten.
