I remember this sign very well. I think the photo was taken looking south from the (wide?) road inside the stadium area, just south of the railway.
BTW, it looks as though this was a former gateway and that it has been blocked off. I think there might have also been an exit out of this area under the railway into Stanhope Gardens in the late 1950s, but it became disused by the 1960s.
It was also possible to get to Arena via either Vale Terrace or Finsbury Park Road.

The lamppost is a 'Harringay Arena type' and not one as used by the local authorities in the area.. (SNBC & TBC)

I remember this sign being there. It was an entrance to the stadium which closed long before the actual stadium closed. (See bricked up entrance between the second `R` and the lamp-post.
It was to the right of Kwik_fit which stood way behind the old Mobil petrol station which now houses Homebase (I think), and behind the old cash and carry which stood on the site of what is now the post office .

Hi, I was brought up living above a drapers on the corner of Roseberry gardens so used to go to the arena often. Does anyone on this site remember the allyway that ran alongside the Arena building which had beautiful muriels painted on the walls?
