Is this taken from the footbridge to the station looking north? If so then that's Ally Pally top left but not much else is recognisable.

The chimney stacks and buildings in front (left) are all part of the waterworks.

So this is past the Turnpike Lane bridge? Not taken from the Hornsey footbridge?

The Turnpike Lane bridges can clearly be seen underneath (just behind) the signal gantries.

Buildings to left, in front of chimneys are probably the Bank Chambers. Nice to see some railway related photos.

As near as I can match it. Buildings to the left are not the Bank Chambers - they could be waterworks from when the New River crossed Turnpike Lane further west than it does now. No sign of the buildings on the right which must be where the new estate (and formerly the tower blocks) are now.

Great comparison! Thanks for the effort John..
I stick to my first comment.. The buildings and the chimney stacks were part of the waterworks..

A 1960 view to compare to the 1904 one.  On the left are the Bank Chambers, the High Street and the Water Works.  The much taller chimney to the left of the ornate Water Works one seems to have disappeared.
