and here it's a part of it's history for sale (from CMU daily):

BURNT HENDRIX GUITAR UP FOR AUCTION
The first guitar Jimi Hendrix ever burnt on stage is expected to fetch 500,000 when is goes up for auction at the Fame Bureau in London on 4 Sep. Hendrix set fire to the guitar when he supported The Walker Brothers at the Finsbury Astoria in 1967. The guitarist's PR man Tony Garland took the guitar home with him and it was only recently re-discovered by his nephew.

The Fame Bureau's director of acquisitions, Ted Owen told reporters: "When Hendrix set this guitar alight it marked a watershed in live performance. He raised the bar of what could be expected and paved the way for a series of imitations and pastiche that exist to this day".

Other items in the auction include the last ever drum kit owned by John Bonham and Jim Morrison's last notebook of poems.

I spent many a happy hour at this wonderfully built building. I was told it was originally built for an Indian prince whose ship when down on his journey to this country. Does anyone else remember this story?
