Isn't this 'lonely' spot where that other species of lesser shopper comes in, the walker?
I thought they'd stuck you by the recycling bins or something.

nice pic. I wonder if the majority of cyclists dont realise where the cycle park is? For so many years we were so used to going around the back of sainsburys and now we are at the front, or is the side of the building? When I complained to sainsburys I suggested that the cycle area should be sign posted, of course they ignored this too.

There is another more convenient but smaller cycle park right in front of the shop, to the right of the cashpoints. I've never noticed the one in the picture before.

See, I'm not the only one to miss the large and empty cycle park!! Takaokagiejin is talking about the one I found at first where the bike racks had not been cemented in. I assume they've fixed them now? The cycle park in the picture is next door to the petrol garage. I prefer this one as its nearer to the main road and I can glide (smuggly) pass the drivers sitting in the traffic jam without having to negotiate the cars and pedestrians with trolleys in the carpark.

I once saw three bikes here ... I didn't realise there was another one.

I always use this one as once I've got my shopping I tend to wheel the bike to Green Lanes - the road is usually so congested and filled with furious looking drivers that there doesn't seem room for a bike too...

Its true there isnt any room at all for cyclists. I end up having to cycle on the wrong side of the road or squeeze inbetween the cars, its really dangerous. (i dont like getting up too close to those angry drivers either) You'd think sainsburys could build a cycle lane if they are truely committed to enviromental issues. I'm sure more people who use that sainsburys and live off green lanes would rather cycle than be stuck in that traffic but without a safe cycle lane I dont blame people for driving.

It's mad isn't it. There is no way on earth I would drive there - I would rather drive to somewhere like Colney Hatch to do my shopping that sit in that queue of traffic for however long it takes (which is insane, given the distances involved). The only time I did drive there at the weekend I abandoned my car in the carpark and went back after the shop had shut! I wish more people would do that - I'd have thought if people just stopped going there they would make more of an effort to sort it out!

I know the technology is a tad cutting edge but I sometimes use one of these.
