For me personally, this is Holden's best acheivement.. After this, in my view comes Oakwood (Enfield West).. forget Southgate, Arnos Grove and Osterley..!!
When built, both Turnpike Lane and Manor House stations had tramway exits situated in the middle of Turnpike Lane and Seven Sisters Road respectively. Those at Manor House were removed in 1950 and Turnpike Lane in 1968 on the introduction of the Wood Green Satellite (flat-fare) bus system (the trams had gone by 1938). Until that time, buses to Alexandra Park (Victoria) 217,217A & 231 had continued to use them.

Can't say I am a fan of this station architecture but its clean uncluttered lines are shown off better by the 1933 streetscape.

How were they allowed to get away with the patching up of the brickwork like that? It looks very shoddy.... That on a listed building?
Hhmm. .. I presume the window frames were originally blue? I have to say, it definitely looks better in Black and White.. :o) I wonder if the shade of blue is correct?
But worst of all, the caging(railings) around the crossing looks dreadful... My idea would be to lay back the traffic lights and allow a much wider open area for crossing..
I personally think treating pedestrians like that is not right..
