I recently visited 630 Green Lanes, the house I live in from 1951 until 1965.
I was kindly shown the interior of the house and able to share memories with the people who were there that morning.

Thanks for sharing. When it was first built, rather than a number, it had a name. It was called 'Colville'. Did it still have that name by the 1950s?
It always had a name since it was built in Edwardian times, but we never used it during the time we lived there.
We just called the house ‘Six Thirty’
We did discuss the house and while back. I think the original occupants of the house were a builder and his wife. I am unable to access our previous conversation at the moment.
Hi Caroline, The house was occupied by 1892. It was probably built in the 1880s. So, firmly Victorian rather than Edwardian. The earliest occupant I have (in 1892) is William Phillips (42) who was a commercial traveller in "metal and hardware", rather than a builder. He lived at the house with his wife Agnes (42).
William registered the house in the 1891 census as "Colville House". Before 630, the couple had lived in Myddleton Road off Turnpike Lane. By 1901 28-year old school teacher Ellen Monk was living the William at Agnes at Colville as a boarder.
Thank you for reminding me on the history of the house.
It was lovely going back inside after so many years had elapsed and sharing memories with the people who are using it now as a community centre.
Oh that looks so sad and neglected compared to earlier photos Caroline.
