This picture shows from Frederick Pates, Baker at number 67 on the west (left of the photo). Just the other side of Courcy Road on the same side is the Home and Colonial Stores.
On the other side of the road, number 54 just edges in on the far right. This was a shop described as as art needleworkdepot, run by William Edward Robbins. Next door is Williamson's bakers.

Wonderful. I can remember the Empire before it became the TV studios - Redifusion was it? - and my Gran and Grandad lived in a flat above the Stuart Marshall pram shop come toyshop before they took No. 14 Wellesley Rd. Dad recalled Grans memories of watching the new electric trams 'sailing' along past Spouters Corner bathed in their own pools of light. Dad was born 1905.
