Thanks for the photo Teresa. Is that outside number 69, almost opposite Mattison?
Yes. We lived at no.63
Did you go to North or South Haringay school?
All 4 of us went to South Harringay then on to Highgate Wood.
We were at the other end of Wightman - so went to North Harringay.
My Dad went to North Harringay but that would've been in the late 1930s
We went from late 50’s to 60’s . Then went on to Tollington in Muswell Hill.
And the famous Wightman UFO just to the right of the stenchpipe 🤔
🤣
Walking the length of Wightman Road between North Harringay School and my home in Stapleton Hall Road was a regular journey for me between 1958 and 1964.
I well remember the snow and ice along Wightman Road in 1963 which was laying from before the beginning of that year, only finally disappearing the first week of April. The compacted snow and ice from the pavement was piled up along the kerbside and for a long time afterwards you could see the evidence of scrapemarks along the pavements from the action of clearing the snow. However the hill made for great sliding along the ice on the way to school.
