Hugh..........only just come across this pic of my old road so it has real interest to me.  I think this is viewed from The Salisbury Hotel end.   The "big" building I think is quite possibly the old laundry premises in what is now fashionably called Colina Mews.  In our time, for some reason or other, it was simply though lovingly known as The Lucky and provided our play paradise for all manner of things.  The entrance from this end was off Colina Road.  The back gardens of houses on Harringay Road in that section backed onto The Lucky.   The laundry on left at Colina Road end,  was called The Oakwood (now subject to housing development).  Our Dad worked there for some years, possibly along with our Mum.   And at top end of The Lucky on right was Wise's  laundry (maybe Rose's laundry ?).  Mum also worked there at some time.   Wonderful memories...............

Thanks, John. You wouldn’t have seen the laundry from Harringay Road up by the Salisbury. I’m pretty sure that the big building is the back of 453 West Green Road.

Ah, got you now Hugh.   So this is looking up "top end" of Harringay Road toward West Green Road ?

But what do you think the big white object on the right is, leaning over pavement 2 girls underneath.   Some sort of protection from roof works maybe ?

My father in law was born in Harringay Road in1919, the family were living at number 41 in 1911, and by 1924 had moved to number 33, so not sure which house he was born in, but great to see how it looked

Janice..........is Martin your maiden or married name ?    We lived at 40a, was a house built as two separate flats, we lived downstairs, 1948-70.   There was a Martin family lived almost opposite us,  Pat and Jim I believe was their names and possibly a child or two ?  Would be interested to hear of any connection.
