Molly the Menace

There is a small, pale Cockapoo called Molly that frequents Finsbury Park with her poorly trained owner.Molly seems desperately hungry and if you're sitting down, anything's game. I've lost a bag of dog treats and then on Saturday watched in some consternation as Molly moved from me (not this time you little hoodlum!) to a couple picnicking with their very young baby. Molly seemed to eat the paper plates and her owner just walked around the outside of the field (Harringay side of the tennis…See More

How the Government are using me to screw young people

Posted on January 6, 2012 at 13:30 4 Comments

I am being forced to save for my retirement as an individual. I have no idea how long I will live. The fact that my father died before retiring makes me wary of over sacrificing current earnings for some day I may well never see. However, I do have dependents who can benefit from anything I save and there are fantastic, unbelievable tax incentives to do so. I am still not exactly sure how much I should be saving but I do know that what I need to save given my advanced years and current tax…

Exploring the Harringay Passage - underground

Posted on July 28, 2011 at 22:43 9 Comments

Last night, out on my passage patrol, I noticed a large truck in my street and whipped out my camera to snap the offenders.

Harringay Passage - Underground

To my surprise they were a "confined spaces rescue unit" there to clear an obstruction from the sewer.…

Traffic survey, the long awaited results

Posted on December 2, 2010 at 0:00 5 Comments

Firstly please accept my apologies for this taking so long. I had the technology in place to email out the pdfs of the survey sheets and allow the surveyors to enter the raw data into a database but I hadn't even started the tricky bit. Next time we do a survey we'll be able to get the results moments after the last sheets are uploaded.

Before I go putting the resultant "trips" into my database and getting all whizzy with it, I noticed that the Guardian have been just dumping raw… Back to Harringay Online

How to build a nice strong Harringay Fence

Posted on August 19, 2010 at 23:25 1 Comment

This is really simple. Really, really simple. I cannot stress how simple it is. It will give you a fence that is strong and yet uses fence panels.

Equipment required:

  • A new saw (always buy a new hand saw, about £5).
  • A cordless drill.
  • A non-cordless drill with a 12mm and 8mm wood bit and an an 6mm or so brick/concrete bit.
  • A socket set that includes a 10mm socket.
  • A hammer.
  • A pencil.
  • Some string, at least as…

Could we do our own traffic survey?

John, I'm sorry if it sounded as if I was getting at you, I wasn't, but it reads that way. I was posting off something before heading off to the airport for a few days away, and have just returned. It was meant to be a general comment something like 'solidarity from demonstrating together "counts for more than sitting in ONES bedroom alone spouting on line" which was exactly what I was doing at that moment in time. It was not aimed at you. I'm sorry if I upset you, I would not want to do that.

Aww thanks! Maybe I was being a bit over sensitive last night (and over-tired!), but that's just who I am, very sensitive, and really quite a nice, kind person, and felt like I was being portrayed as some nasty crop-wielding property obsessed cow!

But having slept on it, I'll try to not take things too personally in future. Thank for the encouraging message.

could this really work, Joe thinks Nefertiti is a character from Scooby Doo, which at least is a start? sounds like an incentive to play more a watch less.

I'm only pretending to be pissed off. I hate the grumpy old men types on the site. They seem to be able to dish it out but they can't take it!

Hi John, I will pop my head in and have a swift half if I can. To be completely honest I am a bit skint at the moment, hey maybe my old mate James will buy me one ;-) I hope you all have a great evening.
