Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

About five years ago, long before the current Harringay Market was even a twinkle in Jessica's eye, I dug up some information about Harringay's late 20th century market and wondered aloud if it was was time for a new one.

This weekend, Twitter has delivered a new wee nugget of Harringay's history via Robert Simonetti (@robsim66) who used to run the fish stall at the market which used to be based by the Stadium. I don't have a date for the clipping above, or a publication, but I'm guessing mid to late eighties.

Thank you Robert. Do stop by and share some of your memories if you have a minute!

I remember the Harringay stadium market. It had a butcher stall where they would shout out "10lbs of sausage for a fiver", you waved your money in the air and one of the butcher's boys would come over to you with the porkers wrapped in white paper.
Love the reporter's name by the way.
