Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hope the list and links on the main page helps folks find stuff.

Any more ideas about how we can help alum / encourage memory & photo/memorabilia sharing?

Harringay Alumni is a splendid idea. Well done. I will suggest my cousins (John in France and Barbara Webb in the UK) also join.
Best wishes,
Arthur
Great. Glad you like it. I've already invited John. (I'll leave it to you to chivvy him up). Is Barbara on the site? You can invite anyone by clicking the +invite more link on the group home page below the member pictures or by clicking here.

BTW, including those already in the group (except me) there are 13 Harringay Alum. Probably quite a few more in amongst the membership who haven't identified themselves or have slipped through the cracks.

Do feel free, y'all, to invite other folks you know who may be interested. The more the merrier.
Hugh, I've been sending emails out today, hoping people will be interested in this. A good place to get names is off the Friends Reunited site. Thanks again for this. As I said, I am not the best writer in the world, but love this memory lane trip.
Dear Meryl,
I think most young'uns go through a 'collecting' phase, around nine, 10 11 years old approximately. I know I did. I wasn't into car or train numbers, but I obsessively collected, and wrote down, numbers of any type of aeroplane. Then later added technical details (gleaned from magazines) recording their engine make, range, top speed etc.
This became more obsessive when we moved to Surrey in 1933, and Croydon Airport was not too far away. There was an observation area at that airport for nutters like me, roughly equivalent to your pitch by the railway bridge in Green Lanes I guess!
Looking back on it from today, I cannot imagine why I did it either, or what pleasure it gave me. I still have one of my notebooks, with the data carefully written in pencil, page after page after page ....!
Perhaps a child psychologist could explain it for us?
Best wishes,
Arthur
