What a fantastic story, thanks Justin.

Yes, I was wondering if there is a way to get saplings if we need them (we talked about fruit trees yesterday for example)

For the planters? I think the only constraint there is that we'd need to ok the variety first with the Council (to make sure they are happy it's not too big). But we could find out what he has?

I will see if I can get hold of him...

Fruit tree saplings aren't very expensive if you want to buy them - often less than £20 each.

If you don't want to gather them yourself, there are also people giving away tree seedlings if that helps - this guy for instance:

We have spare seedlings available of New Zealand Ribbonwood "Plagianthus regius" free to good homes..lovely columnar tree, one of only two deciduous species from the South Island. SE London.
Cheers
