Thanks Liz. Good tip here about using a toilet roll as a flower pot - heard it before but handy reminder now as I've got some seeds for a plant that supposedly hates being transplanted. So plant them into a roll and then plant them out directly in the ground still in their 'pot' and the toilet roll just gradually disappears over time. No root disturbance.
Gardener's World reminded us to take cuttings and plant bulbs at this time. Am trying cuttings from the hydrangea, the African daisy (white petals purple centre) and the lovely rose in my front garden.
Plastic bottles can be used (cut up) to protect small seedlings from slugs....
