Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

After you were so good in identifying the Wheel Tree, I thought I would give you a ?easier? one. This looks to me like Portuguese laurel with flowers hanging not erect. Photo taken 29th June in The Grove, Alexandra Park near to the pedestrian link to the Parkland Walk. However, my book says that the stem should be red which it definitely isn't....

I think this is Prunus lusitanica and the upright one is Prunus laurocerasus

'Lusitanica' being the Latin for Portugal.  Like most of the Latin names, it's based on a simple meaning.
