I don't know if you've already looked here, but it might point you in the right direction

thank you

I have a Romanian neighbour who knows little about either plants or the council's services so I helped her pulling up some JKW recently. I actually have it in a bag in my front garden, and am arranging for the council to come take it away...

Like any plant, if you keep pulling it up it will give up and die at some point, you just have to stay on it. Once you pull it up, make sure that you keep pulling it up. every time it sends up new shoots it is expending valuable energy that can only be replaced if left to photosynthesise.

Sorry, had not spotted Kumari had responded...

When Trudy found some of this stuff at the bottom of her garden, we learned that an effective technique is to cut off all the stems about six inches above ground level.  This leaves short hollow tubes sticking up.  She injected a little glyphosate (ie RoundUp or equivalent) into every single hollow tube.  This did the trick and, so far, the pesky stuff has not come back.  Of course the cut off tops should handled as recommended by the Council web-site.

ok this is very helpful. thank you

That's the trouble  with Glyphosate, it really does the job.

Our neighbours next door and two behind have forests of the stuff growing between Pemberton and Mattison. It is rather beautiful in abundance.
