Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

HOL Flower Show - March (aka. what's good in your garden *now*)

It has been the coldest Winter for a while, but there are now signs of Spring with daffodils and crocuses in our parks and open spaces.... but not, so far, in the north-facing micro-climate that is my back garden. There are other signs of life though...

FAQ
  • What's it all about? See here.
  • Great - where can I see all the 'shows'? See here.
  • Can I contribute? Most welcome. If you can make the image file size modest (say less than 100k), it will be quicker to upload and view and won't waste the HOL disk space allowance.

This Euphorbia Wulfenii is emerging and (from the right angle) has a slight jungle look about it.

Sorry, missed this post!

Really feels like spring is here. One of my favourite plants (you would never guess such small flowers produce such an amazing smell) is in full bloom - a daphne.

And the hellebores are out - there are some lovely white ones but it is impossible to get a good photo of them because they hang their heads so. Here is a green one ..

The witchhazel is out ...

And last, but not least, so are the lowly primulas. Amazingly these ones were transplanted from a garden in Southport a week ago!

I rather like the Hellebore, Alison - think I will have to investigate one!
They are fantastic. Evergreen leaves, actually like shade, flower before anything else starts in spring - what's not to like! Only down side is that they can take a while to flourish - they don't tend to flower til they are about 3 years old. The one in the picture is called Corsican hellebore.

Lovely pictures Liz.
The white blossom against the white house looks great, Liz!

This Forsythia has appeared in the last couple of days...

Epimedium - great for the shade, but you need to get close to appreciate them.

The humble but beautiful Forget-me-not.

Berberis in bud
Forget-me-not looks great, Hugh.

Daffodils are finally out in my back garden (weeks after most other places...). These were giveaway bulbs from Railway Fields last year.

Thanks. The berberis shot should have been good - need to retake it with a tripod, I think.
I'm very impressed by everyone's photo skills. Mine not so advanced. But am posting this because is just such a lovely colour combo - euphorbia and petunias ..
