Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Been throwing an idea around in my head, thinking of starting a youth club/kids disco on a friday night. 4- 6 or 5-7.
It will consist of an art and craft area, a few boad games, a tuck shop etc.
What are peoples opinions on this is it something that would be of interest

hi Carla
Great idea, unfortunately 5 years too late for my teenagers, but there is definitely a gap in the market in this area for kids in that age group. So many churches with halls / schools / Langham working men's club, and nothing going on for our youngsters. FYI 4th Wood Green Souts based nat Tottenham Scout Hall are great for getting the kids into outdoors activities. highly recommended. All the best with your suggestion, this should be a winner.
I was actually thinking of using the Langham club
I think any social interaction is great for kids...you don't say what age group you are thinking of here....but there are a few things I would say....firstly I don't think you realise just how much red tape you would need to address in order to set up anything where you take charge of other people's children...you would need vetted trained staff, insurance etc. For my own part, because i work full time, my son attends after school club at this time so I couldn't have him attend even if I wanted him to.
I do understand all that im currently working in a school and so are most of my family, so we are all vetted. At the moment its just something ive been thinking about
Good idea!
I think it's a great idea. There is a definite need for young people to have something to do outside the house. Don't let red tape stop you...maybe you could jockey your idea onto an existing service that has the health and safety covered. Good luck.
