Next week all UK mobiles will be automatically on a directory which means anyone will be able to access your number including 'cold' callers.
It is easy to become ex directory but it must be done before the beginning of next week.
This has been recommended by the BBC.

Register to TPS telephone preference service.
This government service blocks only calls from UK but it's a start.
