Railway Fields is a small local nature reserve situated just off Green Lanes, opposite Harringay Green Lanes Station. It is a beautiful 1 hectare site run by TCV (The Conservation Volunteers) and by Haringey Council. During the summer term (April- July) TCV run an Environmental Education Programme for Haringey nursery and primary school groups. They visit the site on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 10.30am- 2.30pm and study minibeasts, plants and pond wildlife. The sessions take place in the open air.
TCV are looking to recruit some more Environmental Education volunteers to help out with the school groups. If possible the volunteers would be asked to help out for 2 days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays or Friday. There would be some level of flexibility. The volunteers would gain hands on experience in the field of Environmental Education, assisting with leading groups of children around the Reserve on treasure hunts/ minibeast safaris, helping out with art activities and assisting with pond dipping sessions.
All volunteers would be required to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service, formally Criminal Records Bureau.) If you are interested in getting involved please email me, Lizzy (Schools Project Officer) on my work email, l.nazer@tcv.org.uk so that we can arrange a meeting and make necessary arrangements.

Letters have been sent to all of the schools in Haringey, its up to them if they book a visit. Please tell the people who maybe interested to email me at l.nazer@tcv.org.uk as soon as possible so that we can get the ball rolling. DBS checks can take a few weeks. Thanks
