Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Would you like to volunteer and help girls and young women in Haringey reach their potential?
Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. By volunteering with us, you can help us create amazing opportunities for hundreds of girls and young women in Haringey.
We currently run 12 groups in Haringey - covering South Tottenham, St Anne's, Crouch End, Alexandra Park, Muswell Hill and Highgate. We would love to have a few more helping hands to cut down our waiting lists and make sure that every girl has the opportunity to join a local unit in her area. We also have plans to open new units across Haringey in the next year, including North Tottenham, South Tottenham and Wood Green.
There are lots of ways you can volunteer, whether it is an hour or two every few months - to help with driving for trips, fundraising or volunteer training - or a regular weekly commitment to a local group - providing a space where girls and young women can be themselves.
I've been a volunteer with Girlguiding since I was 15. I've made amazing friends, learnt new skills, had the opportunity to travel the world and work with others on important issues for girls and young women as well as having a go at everything from cake decorating to windsurfing! My favourite thing about volunteering with Girlguiding is seeing the young women I volunteer with grow, learn new things, challenge themselves, make friends and have fun.

Thank you so much to all the volunteers who have expressed an interest in joining us so far. So lovely to hear from you.
We're hoping to have a fun family social event at some point in August where you can come and learn a new skill and ask questions about volunteering with Girlguiding. Please let me know if you'd like to come along...suggestions to date include toasting marshmellows on campfires, cake decorating, talks around some of our international projects on girls education etc and learning new skills. Any other suggestions or community groups willing to host our event - please contact me.

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to our recent 'Welcome to Girlguiding' Event to find out about volunteering with one of the leading girls and young women's charities in the UK. We've had a fantastic response from Haringay Online forum readers and we are very pleased to announce that we not only recently opened a new Guide Unit near Alexandra Park, but we are also opening a new Brownie Unit in South Haringey.
Brownies opens up a world of exciting challenges and the opportunity for girls to try new things, have fun and make brilliant friends. We will be holding free taster activities for parents, carers and girls in December at Chestnuts Primary School.
