Help - I need a haircut!

Life has not been the same since George of She packed up his curling tongs and retired home to Cyprus. Desperately seeking skilled, unpretentious local alternative.

I've had my last couple of haircuts at Karizma on Green Lanes, next to Harringay station - was v. pleased with the results! Very friendly, and inexpensive.
If you're willing to travel a short distance, HOB salon in Southgate is great, reasonably priced and recommended by the good salon guide. The staff there have won a bunch of awards. You get a central london salon haircut for out in the sticks prices.

Admittedly not exactly local - but close enough!
I use Ellie on the corner of Hornsey High St and Hillfield Avenue. My requirements are very simple but I've always been happy with her prices and her unpretentious manner. I think she also does various beauty treatments.

I also have been going to Ellie for 3 or 4 years now and many of my friends also use her. She is great.

Hi I go to Avalon on Weston Park, it's lovely not pretentious at all.

Unless you are looking for a poor environment and a really bad haircut, do not go to Karizma next to Harringey Green Lanes station. I went in for a simple trim and came out with the ends of my hair looking more ragged than when I went in. The man who cut my hair seemed distracted and in a big hurry. It felt like I was in a hurricane as the hairdresser kept flipping my hair all over the place. I could not even run my fingers through my hair afterwards as it was so tangled and the ends were so rough. I thought it would be difficult to mess up a trim, but I was proven very wrong. Also, there is black mold on the walls and bugs in all of the light fixtures. This would have been overlooked if I had received a decent haircut. In the end, I had to have 4 more inches cut off of my hair to correct the "trim". I suppose it is cheap so you get what you pay for.

Hi if you are looking for a local, unpretentious hair salon try Avalon on Weston Park. I go to Charlie and she's really friendly but they are all good. X
