Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I’ve sadly just heard a young woman being attacked for her bag on Allison Road N8, just off of Green Lanes. This happened at 9.50pm and thankfully lots of neighbours heard her and came out to help.

She is now safe with police but just wanted to let everybody know. Stay safe!

Sickening. Thanks for letting us know.

My sister-in-law thought she was being followed as she started walking up Hewitt on Sunday night. She quickly returned to a shop that was open on Green Lanes and called us. It sounds like she wasn't being over-cautious.

That’s awful, I’m so glad she made it home ok.

When I popped my head out to see what was going on everyone was congregated by the passage so I’m not sure if that’s where it happened. So unnerving given that it’s really not that late.

That’s terrible, hope she’s ok.

Good to hear that neighbours came out to help.

She was upset but I did hear her say she got her bag back which is something I guess. Such a frightening experience though by the sounds of it.

Me and my housemate were first to help. Lady walking up Allison road, small gang of what looked like teenagers came at her from out passage. We chased them off but they got away. Couldn’t have been much older than 18. They headed back down the passage towards HGL station. Stay safe everyone.

That’s horrendous! You guys are amazing thank you so much. From what I could hear she sounded so upset and my housemate who first heard everything said she had been really screaming which must have been awful. Thanks so much for helping her out. Did I hear right that they dropped her bag?

Just a Sainsbury’s bag full of Ice cream strangely! Not sure what happened to the ladies possessions. I’m not sure they managed to get anything from her, we managed to get out our house to her quite quickly after hearing the struggle and they bolted.

Well it just goes to prove that screaming your head off is a good defence tactic in these situations.  Not only does it scare off the attackers, but alerts people to come and help.

Well done you guys.

Thanks both. Pleasing thing was amount of people who came out their houses to help. Poor lady seemed very shaken and had taken a few knocks by the looks of it. Strangely the culprits dropped a Sainsbury’s bag full of ice cream upon fleeing which made our failed attempt at heroism slightly more rewarding. All happened in a blur but looked like two young girls and a boy.

A lot recent attacks on the Lea Navigation tow path also.

I don't suppose - with all the kerfuffle - you noticed a receipt in the bag? With time and place of purchase - for possible cctv in the shop? (and also well done everyone who tried to help!)
