Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I went to the Whittington A&E today for an X-ray (long story) and while waiting for the results was offered a free cup of tea and a sandwich by a woman going round with a trolley. In all my years of waiting around in that department on many different occasions, once for an entire day, I have never had more than crisps and chocolate from the vending machine.

I was in the Whittington for two weeks 20 years ago.  My son was admitted not that long ago for a week at the Whittington and I thought the food must have been improved.  I hasn't - it is inedible and inappropriate.  We resorted to getting vouchers and topping up and going to the canteen or buying meals from M&S and cooking them in the parent's room (after my son's dad fixed the microwave which wasn't working).  My dad is a chef and came to visit. His comment was "they expect people to get well on this?". It also generates normal food waste as it goes in the bin.  Shame because we have had very good care at the hospital.

Now look here, are we really saying that being hospitalised should involve a hospitality suite for the masses? These two concepts were not combined since the nuns, monks and mendicant friars had their resources dissolved in the first half of the 16th Century. Some people on here probably expect to be served their 5-course Saturday evening dinner and full Sunday breakfast by Jeremy *unt himself. You'll be complaining about your beverage too, I suppose. Hell of a shame Atlee's government failed to implement Beveridge's great work on Eugenics. The Health & Welfare Service was never intended to be affordable without this foundation.
