Where's the best place to get free (legal) copy of CS6

yup gimp is 'orrible, especially if you're used to photoshop.

HOWEVER - you can also run http://www.gimpshop.com/, which sits on top to make it function like photoshop apparently? Can't vouch for it, but might be worth a look if you can't sort out CS6

You can download a free 30-day trial copy of all Adobe software from Adobe. Useful for seeing if it works for you.  Photoshop Elements, which is about £50, works fine for most people, it is essentially a cut-down copy of PS just missing some of the more high-end tools. As a student - and that can be on a very short course - you can get stuff at about 1/3 full price -  PS  alone at £237, the Design package for about £300 with useful extra bits.  All this for Mac or PC.  [I've by-passed all their annoying stuff about the Creative Cloud on that link but you may want to look at that too, where you rent software on a monthly PAYGo deal.] You just need to know someone who's in college or teaching...  

Secondhand software is hard to find as anyone selling is likely to have upgraded and Adobe are very tight on closing down the old registration numbers as you upgrade. If they charged less they might find fewer dodgy copies out there, that's their reason for doing the Elements versions.  Dodgy copies usually come with trojans on board, that's how the scammers get their hooks into you.

PS If anyone has a legit copy of Premier Pro CS6, I'm listening.

Thanks Pam. I'm currently trialling CS6 on a Cloud trial, but the days are ticking by!

If you had a child (5-18) who was in full time education you could get a student copy of the whole CS6 too. I am sure you know a few folk who would do this for you

This more than a little annoying - to replace software - 'If you purchased a download version of an Adobe product, it remains in your account for three years from the date of purchase.'  So they expect you to upgrade at least every three years, you throw away the money after that if your PC is changed or stolen or otherwise goes. What if you're happy with your version but upgrade hardware?  I've just asked how to get copies on disc, have a wait of 11 minutes and 46 seconds for an answer. Thanks Adobe, good to know that,

Eventually....  here's the page on Adobe site. There's a tiny drop-down link next to Download when you click Buy, to have the discs sent. for an extra £3 or so.  I'd do that rather than try to create backups of a download.

And I've now found I can't get an education version of Premier Pro on its own, have to  buy the Production package which includes Photoshop that I already stumped up for.  Adobe, cant live with them, cant live without them.  PS I'm a student all this month.
