Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Pathetically, I can't decided what colour to paint the hall of my three-bed house on the Ladder. It's North facing and so rather dark, but currently white which I find too cold. I would like a colour, but can't seem to decide what would work - bright and bold, or subtle. Any suggestions of colours that have worked for you?

Above dado, Dulux 'Timeless'.

Below dado, Dulux 'Martian Skies' (a sort of soft blue, I hate it, but had to go with it because my boyfriend loved the name - and was paying).

Laura Ashley Edwardian-style duck egg blue 'feature walls' on each end.

My Hall also faces north, and is a strong yellow (Delhi Bazaar 2 - not sure of make), and a soft white above.  It works brilliantly.  My tip is to go to Chris Stevens in Holloway Rd, choose a trade paint (eg Johnsons) because the coverage is better & you will need fewer coats, and then get them to make up the colour for you. If you want to change it, they will add more pigment for you - just remember that you can only add, not take away..Also, they have a big selection of reject paints - changed colours etc, which are sold very cheaply, so you can buy a few of those to see what kind of colour works for you, before deciding. I must have tried 8 yellows before picking the first one I tried.
