Its hard not to think that. Wood Green is a maze of crossings, bus lanes(different times of operation) dodgy parking(tricky overtaking) a variety of crossings, speed limits, schools etc. The opportunity to fail is everywhere!
Reminds me of a story of many years ago.
There were no traffic lights on a Scottish island and really only one crossroads which had functioned happily for years with no accidents. But one day the authorities decided that the crossroads should be controlled and installed traffic lights with sensors which detected approaching vehicles on the minor road and changed to let them through. From day one there were long tailbacks on the minor road (which had never happened before ) because the people on the island drove at such a leisurely pace that the sensors were never triggered and the lights stayed at red.
