Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

West Green Road is closed at the Tottenham end, don't know how far back. All emergency services there. A roof has half come off a building so gawd knows how long it will take to make safe. Someone didn't follow building regs when adding a room in the roof?

Pics below. All traffic completely screwed.

A fluke early lunch break by the builders meant that the building was empty and no-one was hurt.

The road will be closed for at least another 24 hours. The main concern is with the gas, rather than bits falling on our heads.  All shops and homes in the block have been evacuated.

I can't find any current plans for building conversion for this address - there are plans from 2009 to build an extension and flats, but planning permissions only last for three years.

I confess the Fire Brigade's pics are better than mine, as they had use of a crane.  This is why I need my own drone.

Blimey, that's a scary set of photographs (yours and the ones in the paper). Amazing nobody was hurt. It would be good to think that if this is down to dodgy building on the cheap someone will be heavily fined...

Either a mistake in moving roof joists, or possibly a massive woodworm attack. I hope they have good insurance - not just for the repairs, but for the loss of trading in all the shops in three blocks on W G rd for at least two days.

I remember the reporting of this a few years back, which they initially attributed to a heatwave.

Blimey, makes you look a bit more closely at all those parapets along Green Lanes.
