The Banc - Steak, burgers and Mediterranean Food on West Green Road

Back in 2011 Banc Restaurant on West Green Road at the heart of West Green itself arrived on the local restaurant scene with something of a bang.

Reviews started appearing on HoL at the start of 2012 and people seems to love it. But news on HoL about the restaurant has been a bit thin on the ground since. So when I heard that owners Jan and Fabio had just received another award I took the chance to catch up with them to find out what's happening.

First that award. Presented this week by management guru Charles Handy, the 'Made in Tottenham' award recognised 12 businesses in Tottenham run by people under 40. Its aim is to inspire local youngsters to build their own successful businesses.

With the award in their back pocket, the local boys are now moving to the next stage with The Banc. The menu has just been revamped (attached below) and they're about to embark on a new project to create a brasserie-cafe in a disused council utilities building at the entrance to Downhills Park just across the road (and incidentally just outside the gates of Park View School, where the pair hatched the plan for Banc whilst they were studying for their GCSEs).

Inside The Banc

Fabio told me that as well as being passionate about helping to regenerate West Green, both he and Jan are real foodies and want Banc to bring Tottenham a new level of quality in both food and service.

Why not have a look at the menu and give Banc a try-out.

Had a good meal there the other night.  Very friendly, good neighbourhood atmosphere; & a good place to eat on your own with a book, if that's your thing, & people-watch.

Oh, exciting news about the brasserie. Any timeline ?

I'll ask Fabio or Jan to comment.

Their website is off line so I can't make a booking :-(

It's working okay for me, John. Have another go.

Good afternoon members of the community. Firstly I'd like to thank Hugh for being such a believer of The Banc and indeed West Green Road. It's a privilege to be part of the community and giving back to the community. In response to 'Ruth Valentine', thank you very much for popping to the restaurant and giving us a chance, we are please to know you enjoyed your visit. 'Liza' we have acquired the building therefore we are looking to open in January 2015, would be sooner but due to Christmas and The Banc we feel any earlier would not be feasible. 'John D' as we have re-branded please check our new web-site www.thebanc.co.uk alternatively please contact the restaurant on 0208 888 88 98. Thank you all and we hope to earn your custom.
Been to the The Banc a few times, great to have somewhere as nice as this on West Green Rd, looking forward to the Brasserie - all the best

I went there once with a group booking. I thought it was pretty bland and haven't been since.

Maybe it's improved. I'll try again.

Hello Mr Cullen. We have been trading for 3 years now and perhaps in the beginning some dishes were indeed bland. We have since re-branded and found our identity. It would be an honour to welcome you back and show you just how far we have progressed in 3 years.

We ate at the Banc yesterday evening and enjoyed the meal. Food was tasty and the service efficient and friendly. No intrusive music, which is my pet hate. Best of all - the waiter laughed at my jokes so will definitely go again soon

Thank you Mr Douglas for coming in. We are very pleased to know you enjoyed your visit to The Banc Restaurant. We hope to see you again soon

Damn !! Blown my anonymity !!
