Not at all detracting from your bad experience, but I ate there on Sunday for first time and it was the best pub roast I have had in years. Might be worth a second chance?

I was there on Sunday too - fab veggie option and the gravy was particularly good. We felt a little let down by the puddings though.

If you can teach your children to cook seafood they'll at least be assured of something slightly better than minimum wage... Pubs should stick to battered cod and calamari if they think a chef is the same value as a bartender.

I enjoyed the Westbury, but the burgers were a fail... Coleslaw was used in the burger, as in bun - coleslaw - pattie - bun, rather than as a side. That's novel a mayonaise & salad substitute, but it really doesn't work.
Though you get to choose how well done you want them, it started at medium or more well done.
The menu is a bit all over the place - could do with a bit more focus;
On the food front, Bun and Burger wins far; the Westbury wins as a drinking place.

Weakened and went back to the Westbury to eat(we really like the pub!) I had the Nachos...dreadful, not enough cheese and overcooked nachos...a mess. Wife had risotto..she said nice but wouldn't have it again. Sorry but major fail on the food; poor menu and just plain bad cooking as well. We will def try the Sunday Roast as it's been bigged up here, and the beer and service are spot on.
