Weird "banging" noise

It's pile driving on the Gospel Oak to Barking line between Lancaster Road and Oakfield Road.  The work will take place on Saturday 12 August and Sunday 13 August between the hours of 7am to 7pm.

If the work can't be completed this weekend it will be continued next weekend 19 & 20 August.  [information in a letter from Network Rail to Lineside Neighbours - Gospel Oak to Barking Electrification - embankment strengthening between Crouch Hill and Harringay Green Lanes]

I stayed in a hotel in the USA next to a freeway once. The room had this in it. Amazing little thing, completely drowned out the outside world.
